Korean Style Roasted Chicken / Tongdak Gui


Ingredients:

  • A whole chicken (about 1kg)
  • 1tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2tsp salt
  • 1/4tsp ground black pepper
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • To rub: 1tbsp melted butter
Cream cheese dipping sauce (mix altogether):
  • 1pcs small cucumber, cut in small chunks, rub with salt and then rinse off the excess water
  • 1/4tsp salt
  • 60g cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/6cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2tbsp honey
  • 1/4pcs lemon
Bake in the rotisserie oven:
180C in 1 hour (30 minutes -> 15 minutes rubbing with butter -> 15 minutes rubbing with butter

To-do:
  1. Pat dry whole chicken. Mix all ingredients and rub to the whole chicken.
  2. Tie chicken leg and wings. Stab with rotisserie.
  3. Roast in the oven at 180 degrees in 1 hour. After 30 minutes rub the whole chicken with melted butter. Then roast again in 15 minutes. 
  4. Rub with butter for the second time and bake in 15 minutes. 
  5. When finish, let it rest in the oven for 10-20 minutes.
  6. Serve with cream cheese dipping sauce.
