Braised Pork 紅燒肉


Ingredients:

  • 500-600g pork belly (square cutted)
  • 1pcs green onions (long cutted)
  • 5 thin sliced ginger
  • 6pcs whole garlic
  • 2tbsp rock sugar 冰糖
  • 3tbsp soy sauce
  • 5tbsp shaoxing wine
  • 300ml water
  • 2pcs star anise
  • A little five spice powder / ngohiong
  • A little white pepper

To-do:
  1. Add oil on the pan and stir fry green onions, ginger and garlic until fragrant.
  2. Add pork belly on the side and only flip when it's already golden brown (2 sides).
  3. Add rock sugar and turn into low heat for melting sugar.
  4. When the sugar start melting, stir fry and mix well with the pork.
  5. Add soy sauce and stir fry for 1 min to let the pork colorize.
  6. Then add shaoxing wine, water, star anise, ngohiong a white pepper, turn into high heat and let it cook for 1 min.
  7. Then turn into low heat and let it cook for 45 mins with lid covered. The sauce become very thick and golden brown :)
